Why I'm Making the Change

Recently, I attended a roundtable discussion on women in politics hosted by the Progressive Conservative campaign manager Tara Erskine and it opened my eyes to the new energy in the revitalized PC Party.
Inspired by PC Party leader Jamie Baillie’s commitment to balanced budgets, lower taxes and a stronger economy that creates jobs, I re-joined the Progressive Conservative Party and will seek the PC nomination in my home constituency of Waverley – Fall River - Beaver Bank and stand as a candidate in the next general election.

At one time, I became disheartened with the Progressive Conservative Party and worried that the party had lost its way. I joined the NDP in 2006, hoping to make a difference in the lives of the people in my community. After joining the top ranks of the party and playing a key role in the 2009 election of the NDP government, I believed things would be better for working families. That has not happened.

While recognizing that the NDP had the best of intentions, I now realize that their decisions are causing our province’s problems to worsen. When Jamie Baillie assumed the leadership of the Progressive Conservative Party, I began to see that stronger leadership is what’s needed.

I’ll be looking forward to talking with each and every one of you in the coming months about turning our province around and making sure Waverley – Fall River – Beaver Bank is part of a Nova Scotia that is moving in the right direction.
